The highest honor a council can bestow on a volunteer is the Silver Beaver. Recipients of this award are registered Scouters who have made an impact on the lives of youth through service given at the council level. How councils accept nominations and present this award may vary. In addition to a certificate and medal, a white-and-blue square knot on a khaki background is presented to be worn on the uniform.
2025 Silver Beaver Nomination Information
The Silver Beaver Award is the highest honor Scouting Colorado can bestow upon a volunteer Scouter in recognition of distinguished service to youth. The recipients will not only be judged on their outstanding volunteer service with the Boy Scouts of America, but their overall service to other organizations within our community.
The nomination forms will be reviewed by a committee comprised of previously selected Silver Beaver honorees and community leaders
familiar with the Scouting program. Final approval of the committee’s recommendations will be by the National Court of Honor.
In order to avoid disappointment, please do not reveal to the nominee that they are being considered for this award. Silver Beaver recipients will be notified by Certified Mail from the Council after the Silver Beaver Selection Committee has made its recommendations and final approval granted.
Eligibility:
Any registered Scouter with Scouting Colorado who is at least 21 years of age.
Nominating Procedures:
Candidates for this award must be nominated by peers. Self-nomination disqualifies the
A limit of 3 recommendation letters will be accepted. Nominations should include the application, 2-3 letters and no pictures.
